Challenger League Information:
The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League Baseball to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges ages 4-18 (or up to 22/until completion of high school) to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.
Teams will be set up with anywhere from 8 to 10 players, depending on registrations. Each player gets a chance to bat, either by tee-ball or pitch. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster. The Challenger players will wear league-issued MLB hats, as designated by team, and will also receive a t-shirt.
One of the benefits of having a Challenger Division is that it encourages the use of "buddies" for the Challenger players. The buddies assist the Challenger players onto the field, and whenever possible, encourages the players to bat and make plays for themselves. Of course, the buddy is always nearby to help when needed. Parents and teenagers are strongly encouraged to become involved. Teenagers may become buddies after completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check. Parents can become involved by being a buddy to their own child, becoming a coach, volunteer on the board, becoming a team mom, and/or other positions within the league.
The registration fee for the Challenger Division is free for the spring 2023 season and this league is open to all local and surrounding school district residences. Any individual ages 4-18 (22 if still enrolled in school) with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate.
We have added a turf field at Centennial Park! This project was made possible through grants, donations, donated labor, and hard work, and coming together as a community.
We are continuing to look for sponsors. Please contact Penny Stoffel 937-478-7284 or any of the board members below.
